GS Construction is partnering with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education to create after-school care classrooms.
On the 10th, GS Construction announced that CEO Heo Yunhong, Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Cho Hee-yeon, and Shin Jung-won, Head of Social Contribution Cooperation at Green Umbrella, signed the 'GS Construction Joyful Care Classroom' agreement at the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.
GS Construction will provide the necessary funding for remodeling the care classrooms and will be responsible for construction. They plan to renovate existing classrooms' spare spaces into multipurpose areas for activities such as reading and art classes.
Since last year, GS Construction has been supporting this project together with the Namchon Foundation. They established the first location at Susaek Elementary School in Eunpyeong District and completed the second location at Myeonnam Elementary School in Jungnang District in March of this year. This year, they aim to double the budget compared to the previous year and create care classrooms in four elementary schools annually.
A GS Construction official stated, "Going forward, GS Construction will continue to pursue diverse and differentiated social contribution activities and do its best as a leading ESG (Environmental, Social Responsibility, and Corporate Governance) company."
Meanwhile, care classrooms are a system where dedicated caregivers look after children after school in separate spaces within elementary school classrooms.
