Han Ki-jung, Chairman of the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC), will attend the regular meeting of the OECD Competition Committee held in Paris, France, where he will introduce law enforcement cases related to competition law violations by domestic and international platform companies such as Kakao and Google.

On the 10th, the KFTC announced that Chairman Han will attend the OECD Competition Committee regular meeting for five days from the 10th to the 14th.

The regular meeting of the Competition Committee is a policy committee where representatives of competition authorities from OECD member countries discuss international issues and future tasks related to competition policy and law enforcement. It is held twice a year.

This regular meeting will be held under the themes of "Competition and Regulation in Professional Services," "Monopolization, Moat Building, and Entrenchment Strategies," and "Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data, and Competition."

At the roundtable on corporate monopolization strategies, Chairman Han plans to introduce the KFTC's sanction cases on abuse of market dominance, such as Kakao Mobility's "call bundling" and Google's "app market unfair practices."

At the meeting related to pro-competitive industrial policies, he will explain the KFTC's efforts to harmonize industrial policy and competition policy through competition impact assessments, improvements to competition-restrictive regulations, and market research.

The KFTC stated, "We will grasp the latest legal and policy trends of overseas competition authorities to refer to system improvements and law enforcement, and will also strengthen the cooperation system."
