與 "Lee Jae-myung, Even If He Reigns as President in Yeouido, Cannot Escape Investigation"

The People Power Party stated on the 8th, "Even if Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, reigns as the self-proclaimed president of Yeouido and shows off his power, he cannot escape the tightening investigations and trials."

Jang Dong-hyuk, the chief floor spokesperson for the People Power Party, commented on the sentencing of Lee Hwa-young, former Deputy Governor for Peace of Gyeonggi Province, who was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison in the first trial for conspiring in the Ssangbangwool Group's remittance to North Korea and receiving bribes worth hundreds of millions of won. He said, "This ruling clearly shows that Gyeonggi Province's projects related to North Korea were part of the 'Lee Jae-myung presidential project.'"

Jang, the chief floor spokesperson, added, "The court recognized the funds sent to North Korea as 'a gratuity for the Gyeonggi Governor's visit to North Korea,' and once again, the public's attention is focused on Representative Lee," and stated, "Lee's judicial risks should never become risks for our National Assembly and the Republic of Korea."

He continued, "The prosecution had long investigated Lee as the upper echelon, but the opposition party only tried to cover up the truth by bringing up special prosecutors and impeachment of prosecutors," emphasizing, "After the ruling, they repeatedly made baseless claims that 'the trial result is hard to accept and the prosecution's investigation was fabricated.'"

He said, "The Democratic Party's next shield strategy is to seize the chairmanship of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and hijack the prosecution's cases through special prosecutor laws," adding, "Now it is clear why they so desperately clung to holding the Judiciary Committee, blatantly ignoring the National Assembly Act."
