On the 7th, Nonsan City announced that it signed a win-win agreement with KUU KUU to promote the consumption of agricultural and livestock products and agreed to supply 20 tons of rice per month.
KUU KUU operates 80 stores nationwide, and it is known that 30% of these stores receive 20 tons of rice monthly supplied from the headquarters.
The city blends rice varieties optimized for sushi and packages them exclusively for supply to KUU KUU, which plans to supply between 20 to 80 tons of Nonsan rice monthly to stores nationwide.
This contract was reportedly finalized after Mayor Baek Seong-hyun promoted the excellence of Nonsan rice to the sushi specialty company KUU KUU during the investment attraction process.
Meanwhile, KUU KUU, established in 2011, is a nationwide franchise specializing in sushi, where rice is a very important ingredient. The company is actively expanding overseas, including opening a store in Guangzhou, China, in 2017, and reached its 125th franchise store in 2019. KUU KUU plans to open 12 new stores this year as well.
Mayor Baek Seong-hyun said, “Approaching corporate attraction merely from the perspective of job creation cannot promote regional growth. We will continue to do our best to ensure that investment attraction provides practical benefits to the region.”
