A faculty-led startup from Tongmyong University has partnered with a specialized practice platform company to develop 'smart nursing' content.
Tongmyong University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) announced on the 6th that its business incubator resident company Gridatech Co., Ltd. (CEO Ok Ji-won, Professor of Nursing at Tongmyong University) recently signed an MOU for a 'Metaverse-based Nursing Practice Content Project' with RaonSecure Co., Ltd. (Co-CEOs Lee Soon-hyung and Lee Jeonga), the world’s first metademy-based practice platform.
The agreement was signed on May 31 at RaonSecure’s Seoul headquarters. RaonSecure plans to add Gridatech’s motion recognition, non-face-to-face nursing practice VR content, 'Smart Nursing,' to its lineup of nursing practice content.
'Smart Nursing' integrates patented technologies specialized for practice, such as motion recognition and VR technology, to enable precise hands-on practice without devices and features an interface that reduces motion sickness often experienced during VR practice.
Real-time multi-user motion sharing technology has also been applied, allowing multiple users to share their actions in real time on the same screen rather than practicing alone. Ok Ji-won, CEO of Gridatech, is developing content that reflects feedback from actual users by utilizing Smart Nursing in practice settings.
CEO Ok introduced, "Through Raon Metademy, which provides a highly realistic practice environment based on Metademy, more nursing students and new nurses will be able to use Smart Nursing."
He also stated, "In addition to nursing skill practice content, we will continue our partnership by providing Gridatech’s motion recognition technology and know-how for improving VR motion sickness to various practice contents in Raon Metademy."
Lee Jeonga, CEO of RaonSecure, said, "Through this collaboration, we have expanded our lineup of nursing skill practice content in Raon Metademy, enabling us to provide more content to educational and medical institutions that require practice. We will continue to introduce practice content from various industries to Raon Metademy, strengthening our capabilities as a metademy-based specialized practice platform."
Gridatech is a company specializing in VR practice content production, possessing advanced technologies such as motion recognition, VR motion sickness mitigation, and digital twin technology. The company develops motion recognition VR content for a variety of educational and training fields, including nursing, industrial safety, and military training.
Smart Nursing has been supplied to more than 20 universities, hospitals, and government agencies nationwide. Recently, Gridatech launched new core skill content packages, PKG3 and PKG4, securing content for all core nursing skills. The company is also working to pioneer overseas markets by exporting content to New York and filing for international patents.
In April, Tongmyong University was selected as a preliminary designated university for the Ministry of Education’s Glocal University 30 project as part of the Busan Global Hub City University (BIG), a joint university with Silla University. BIG focuses on fostering Tongmyong University’s ICT-based 'Future Mobility School' and Silla University’s silver care-based 'Future Well-Life School.' The two universities plan to establish the 'Digitech Innovation Town,' a campus integrating industry, academia, and research, as well as launch the 'Future Mobility Convergence Graduate School' and 'Future Well-Life Convergence Graduate School.'
Representatives of Gridatech and RaonSecure, tenant companies at Dongmyung University Startup Incubation Center, are signing an MOU for the "Metaverse-Based Nursing Practice Content Project."
