Shinsegae Construction recently announced on the 4th that it will be the first domestic construction company to apply the fully automated drone technology 'DJI Dock2' on-site.
This technology is an advanced automated drone system that uses a docking system (a facility where drones can temporarily land to recharge batteries, download weather information, and reset flight plans).
Shinsegae Construction introduced this technology in collaboration with DroneDeploy, the world's largest drone platform company, and MGIT, an industrial drone service company. Testing was also completed at the Starfield Cheongna Phase 1 construction site.
This technology automates all processes including drone flight, charging, and data uploading, thereby improving work efficiency. Compared to previous models, it is more compact and cost-effective, making it suitable for use at construction sites. It is also easy to transport and install.
Shinsegae Construction plans to use this technology for surveying construction sites, land investigation, monitoring construction progress, managing worker safety, and inspecting the quality of steel frame joints. It is expected to be especially competitive in large-scale projects requiring comprehensive aerial management, such as complex shopping malls and super high-rise residential-commercial complexes.
A Shinsegae Construction official stated, "We plan to expand the application mainly to large-scale sites in the future," adding, "We expect it to play an important role in enhancing safety at construction sites and increasing overall construction process efficiency."
