Representatives from SILZ, the operator of the Saudi Arabia Integrated Logistics Zone, visited CJ Logistics' Incheon Global Distribution Center (GDC) to observe the site and discuss future cooperation plans for operating the Saudi GDC.
On the 2nd, CJ Logistics announced that eight executives from SILZ, including CEO Fadi Al Buhairan and COO Tino Bierbarmet, visited the Incheon GDC on the 30th of last month.
SILZ is the executing agency for the Saudi Integrated Logistics Zone project, responsible for overall logistics zone operations such as attracting investors and tenants, permit reviews, and infrastructure development and management.
CJ Logistics' Incheon GDC predicts and analyzes consumer purchase volumes, storing client products in advance at the Incheon GDC located in a neighboring country to the final consumers, then packaging and shipping according to country-specific orders. The logistics robot system "AutoStore" is implemented, where logistics robots find products based on order information, deliver them to workers, and autonomously rearrange inventory.
Based on its experience operating the GDC, CJ Logistics is building the Saudi GDC near King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh within the Integrated Logistics Zone, covering a total floor area of 18,000㎡. It is a large-scale fulfillment center capable of processing 15,000 boxes per day and is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. By handling various logistics processes such as storage, inventory management, and packaging in an integrated manner, it is expected to serve as a logistics hub for Middle Eastern e-commerce, shipping to nearby areas.
Fadi Al Buhairan, CEO of SILZ, said, "Seeing the optimal packaging boxes recommended according to product size and quantity and the logistics robots performing tasks quickly and accurately made me feel as if I were in a futuristic logistics space from my imagination. It is very encouraging that a state-of-the-art logistics center is being established in Saudi Arabia, and I expect CJ Logistics to play a significant role in the growth of the Middle Eastern e-commerce market."
Jang Young-ho, head of CJ Logistics' IFS Division, stated, "Based on the differentiated operational capabilities accumulated through the Incheon GDC, we will successfully build and operate the Saudi GDC and act as a lubricant for revitalizing the Middle Eastern e-commerce market. Leveraging our superior logistics technology, we will expand our cross-border e-commerce (CBE) business and lead the global market through the 'globalization of K-logistics.'"
