North Korea Continues GPS Signal Jamming Attacks Around Northwest Islands

On the 1st, North Korea is conducting satellite navigation system (GPS) signal jamming attacks southward from north of the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the West Sea.

According to the military, GPS jamming signals were detected around 6 a.m. in the northwestern island area. So far, there have been no reported restrictions on military operations due to the GPS jamming.

It is expected to have an impact on civilians. Recently, due to North Korea's GPS attacks, navigation systems on passenger ships and fishing boats traveling in the waters near Incheon temporarily malfunctioned repeatedly. Following the release of balloons carrying waste southward on the night of the 28th of last month, North Korea has been conducting GPS signal jamming attacks for four consecutive days starting from the 29th. Additionally, provocations continue, including the failed military reconnaissance satellite launch attempt on the 27th of last month and the simultaneous launch of super-large multiple rocket launchers on the 30th.
