Choo Kyung-ho, on Opposition's Call to Limit President's Veto Power in Constitutional Amendment: "An Idea Denying the Constitution"

In the Lina Incident, "We Will Act for Our Companies and National Interest"

On the 16th, Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, strongly opposed the Democratic Party of Korea's call for a 'one-point constitutional amendment' to limit the president's veto power (reconsideration request right), calling it a "notion that denies the constitution" and a "notion for anti-democratic political strife," stating that it is unacceptable.

At the People Power Party emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Floor Leader Choo said, "The Democratic Party proposed a one-point amendment to limit the president's veto power at the constitutional amendment special committee, but the People Power Party absolutely cannot accept it."

He continued, "Limiting the veto power is a notion that denies the constitution," and urged, "Instead of causing confusion with this anti-democratic political strife, the Democratic Party should join in policy competition on how to improve the people's livelihoods."

Floor Leader Choo stated, "The People Power Party will focus solely on the people and pursue cooperation for the people's livelihood through dialogue and compromise," adding, "We will do our best to meet the public's expectations of the political sphere through policy competition between the ruling and opposition parties on livelihood issues."

Regarding the Line issue, he also expressed the position of working closely with the government to protect the national interests of our companies.

Floor Leader Choo explained, "Recently, the party received a report from government and Naver officials about the Line Yahoo issue. According to the report, the government is currently cooperating closely with Naver and supporting it through diplomatic channels to ensure that Naver does not suffer disadvantages due to unfair and unreasonable measures by Japanese authorities."

He also emphasized, "The People Power Party urges the government to closely monitor related companies and trends in Japan and to make every effort to prevent our companies from suffering disadvantages due to unfair or unjust measures by the Japanese government," adding, "We will continue to actively work to protect our companies and national interests in close cooperation with the government."
