The Financial Services Commission announced on the 15th that it will hold 'Korea Fintech Week 2024' from August 27 to 29 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul.

Now in its 6th year, Korea Fintech Week is organized in collaboration with related organizations such as the Korea Fintech Support Center, Korea Growth Investment Corporation, Korea Fintech Industry Association, Financial Supervisory Service, and Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute. It is expected to be a fintech festival that revitalizes the fintech industry and accelerates financial innovation.

With the recent introduction and utilization of generative artificial intelligence (Generative AI), led by 'Chat GPT,' emerging as a challenge for innovation and productivity improvement across all industries, this year’s event will be held under the theme "Opening the Future of Finance with Fintech and Artificial Intelligence," exploring the ripple effects of AI technology on the fintech and financial industries overall.

The exhibition hall will feature booths where fintech companies and financial institutions participate, allowing visitors to directly experience innovative and convenient cutting-edge financial technologies. During the event, ongoing fintech-themed seminars will conduct in-depth discussions sharing global fintech trends and insights, including the adoption and application of the latest AI technologies, financial security, ESG, and insurtech.

This year, to support network formation among fintech industry stakeholders and provide fintech companies with more active opportunities for business model promotion and investment attraction, a mobile business meeting platform will be introduced, and the IR Open Stage and Networking Lounge will be expanded. Additionally, investment attraction programs for promising fintech companies will be strengthened, including the Korea Development Bank’s NextRound fintech special round and Reverse IR hosted by entrusted operators of the fintech innovation fund.

The Financial Services Commission will begin accepting applications for exhibition booths and participation in the 7th 'Fintech Idea Contest' starting from the 20th. Detailed application procedures can be completed through the Korea Fintech Support Center’s operating secretariat.
