The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on the 2nd (local time) that the trade deficit in March this year was $69.4 billion, a decrease of $0.1 billion (0.1%) compared to the previous month.
The March deficit slightly missed the expert forecast compiled by Dow Jones, which predicted a $69.5 billion deficit.
Exports amounted to $257.6 billion, down $5.3 billion from the previous month, while imports were $327.0 billion, a decrease of $5.4 billion compared to the previous month.
The trade deficit with China was $24.1 billion, increasing by $2.2 billion from the previous month, while the trade deficit with Mexico was $13.5 billion, decreasing by $1.9 billion compared to the previous month.
