Yoon Jae-ok, Acting Leader of the People Power Party, reiterated the party's opposition to the 'Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act' ahead of the plenary session.
After concluding a party meeting at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul on the 2nd, Acting Leader Yoon told reporters, "We oppose the very scheduling of the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act on the (plenary session) agenda."
Acting Leader Yoon said, "We agreed to hold the plenary session because we barely reached an agreement yesterday to pass the Itaewon Special Act," adding, "Changing the agenda today to process the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act is morally unacceptable." He emphasized, "I truly regret this situation where they intend to continue political strife and legislative recklessness until the very end."
The Democratic Party of Korea stated that if no agreement is reached with the People Power Party on the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act during the plenary session, they will push the act through by changing the agenda if necessary. Hong Ik-pyo, floor leader of the Democratic Party, appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' that day and said, "Frankly, from Acting Leader Yoon's perspective, the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act is an issue that cannot be agreed upon," and "It might be easier for Acting Leader Yoon if the Speaker of the National Assembly and the opposition party, holding the majority seats, process it unilaterally."
