On the 29th, Samsung Biologics announced on the 30th that it held the 'Bio Company Safety and Health Forum' at its headquarters in Songdo, Incheon. This forum was organized to support the government's safety and health policies and to contribute to the spread of a safety culture in the bio industry. The forum was attended by more than 50 representatives from a total of 11 bio companies, including the Central Regional Employment and Labor Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Incheon Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, Samsung Biologics, Celltrion, SK Bioscience, GC Green Cross, Dong-A ST, and STGen Bio.

At the forum, following a lecture by the Ministry of Employment and Labor on major safety and health policies and trends, Samsung Biologics presented its case studies. Samsung Biologics introduced excellent cases related to process safety management in bio companies, infrastructure establishment for health management of employees and partners, and shared know-how on strengthening the safety and health management system.

This forum, hosted by Samsung Biologics, will be held two more times in the second half of this year. The Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to provide various benefits to participating companies. These include ▲extra points in the evaluation of win-win cooperation between large and small-medium enterprises ▲exemption from on-site inspections by the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s Industrial Accident Prevention Guidance Division ▲priority for safety culture awards ▲recognition of supervisory education hours for forum participants. Any domestic pharmaceutical and bio companies wishing to attend can participate.

No Gyun, Chief Safety Officer (CSO, Vice President) of Samsung Biologics, said, “This forum is significant as the first gathering for domestic bio companies to deeply discuss ways to strengthen safety and health.” He added, “Based on the various excellent cases and discussions shared at the forum, we hope that participating companies will be able to carry out safety and health activities tailored to each company.”
