Busan, Incheon, Ulsan, and Yeosu, Four Major Port Corporations Gathered in One Place

Mutual Cooperation and Discussion of Major Port Issues at the Business Council Meeting

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) announced that it held the 5th Business Council for mutual cooperation enhancement among the four major domestic port authorities over two days from the 29th to the 30th at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center and around Busan Port.


The Business Council was attended by Kang Jun-seok, President of Busan Port Authority, Lee Kyung-gyu, President of Incheon Port Authority, Kim Jae-gyun, President of Ulsan Port Authority, and Park Sung-hyun, President of Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, where they discussed ▲ expansion plans for disaster safety organizations within port authorities ▲ joint declaration for practicing a safety culture between labor and management at port authorities ▲ issues regarding the promotion of amendments to the Restriction of Special Taxation Act for port facility construction projects.


Additionally, the council discussed agenda items such as cooperation plans for the establishment and operation of anti-drone systems at trade ports and the construction of a port training institute.


The attendees also toured the Busan Port North Port waterfront park and marina, as well as the fully automated terminal at the New Port, observing the current operation status of Busan Port and the site of logistics paradigm shifts.


BPA President Kang Jun-seok stated, “We will strive to respond to government policies and strengthen global competitiveness through continuous exchange, cooperation, and innovation among port authorities.”


The Business Council among the four major port authorities is a forum to explore cooperation measures to enhance the competitiveness of domestic ports, based on the ‘Business Agreement for Mutual Cooperation Enhancement among Port Authorities.’
