GH Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony Praying for Safety in Cultural Heritage Excavation of Yongin Platform City Development Project

Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) held a ground-breaking safety prayer ceremony (開土祭) on the 26th to mark the start of the cultural heritage excavation survey for the Yongin Platform City urban development project.

The ground-breaking ceremony is a ritual performed before beginning the excavation survey to inform the spirits of the reason for the survey and to pray for the safety and accident-free progress of the investigation site. On this day, the ceremony was held at the excavation site with the attendance of GH, the survey team, and distinguished guests.

Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony for safety prayers to commence the cultural heritage excavation survey of the Yongin Platform City urban development project on the 26th.

This excavation survey will proceed through sample and trial excavations, as well as detailed excavation investigations, covering 21 areas totaling 1.22 million square meters where buried cultural heritage was identified during the cultural heritage surface survey conducted in 2021.

Kim Se-yong, President of GH, stated, "Before the site development work, we will strive to understand the historical culture of this area through the excavation survey and protect cultural heritage, aiming for an efficient harmony between the Yongin Platform City development project and cultural heritage preservation."

Yongin Platform City is a project to build a future-oriented complex self-sufficient city combining advanced industry, commerce, residential, cultural, and welfare spaces on a 2.7 km² (approximately 830,000 pyeong) site in Bojeong-dong, Mabuk-dong, and Singal-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do.
