Kakao Pay is partnering with the Korea Environment Corporation to build a system that allows carbon neutrality practice points, which were previously only given through bank accounts and Green Card points, to be received as Kakao Pay Money. From now on, carbon neutrality practice points earned through issuing electronic receipts and using reusable cups can be received as Kakao Pay Money. To increase accessibility to the points, Kakao’s simple login service will also be provided.
Kakao and Kakao Mobility are exploring long-term directions with the Ministry of Environment to encourage users to practice carbon neutrality in their daily lives. Kakao plans to conduct joint campaigns with the Ministry of Environment through its representative ESG platform, "Kakao Together Value (Kakao Gatgachi)," to make it easier for users to practice carbon neutrality in everyday life. Kakao Mobility will participate in a public-private consultative body to promote the use of eco-friendly transportation such as bicycles and will continue discussions on developing carbon neutrality practice programs related to Kakao T Bike usage.
Kwon Dae-yeol, Chair of the Kakao CA Council ESG Committee, said, "Through this agreement with the Ministry of Environment, we aim to further contribute to spreading the culture of carbon neutrality," adding, "We will strive to enable more citizens to easily and conveniently participate in practicing carbon neutrality."
