From Envelopes to Ice Packs... Baemin B Mart Expands Eco-Friendly Packaging Materials

The introduction of eco-friendly packaging materials will be expanded throughout the entire logistics process of the quick commerce service Baemin B Mart.

Woowa Brothers, which is in charge of the logistics service of Baedal Minjok, announced on the 26th that it will expand and introduce recycled raw material packaging provided by Korea Pallet Pool into the logistics distribution of the quick commerce service ‘Baemin B Mart’.

Through this collaboration, Woowa Brothers will receive eco-friendly packaging materials made from recycled raw materials from Korea Pallet Pool and apply them throughout the entire logistics process. Woowa Brothers will be supplied with plastic bags containing 50% PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) material recycled from waste plastic and ice pack fabric made with 40% recycled raw materials certified by GRS (Global Recycled Standard) from Korea Pallet Pool.

The ‘biodegradable resin bags’ previously used by Baemin B Mart were environmentally certified by the Ministry of Environment and could be provided free of charge. However, since biodegradable resin bags were excluded from environmental certification, the bags must now be provided for a fee. In response, Woowa Brothers explained that regardless of whether free provision is possible, they decided to switch to ‘PCR bags,’ which have a greater eco-friendly effect than biodegradable bags.

Woowa Brothers introduced PCR bags in some areas starting from the 26th and plans to expand their use regionally as the existing biodegradable bags are depleted. Ice pack fabric made from GRS-certified recycled raw materials will be introduced starting in May.

A Woowa Brothers official said, "Through collaboration with Korea Pallet Pool, we have introduced environmentally friendly packaging materials throughout all logistics processes of Baemin B Mart," adding, "Going forward, Baedal Minjok will make every effort to become a comprehensive eco-friendly logistics company by applying various efforts not only to packaging materials but also to the entire logistics process."
