The Rural Agreement is a policy supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to create vibrant and hopeful living spaces by developing rural infrastructure, establishing regionally specialized agriculture, restoring and maintaining the rural environment, and building rural communities.
Uiryeong-gun’s agreement projects, totaling 32.4 billion KRW by 2028, include eight projects such as the Burim-myeon Central Area Revitalization Project (16 billion KRW), Gungnyu-myeon Basic Living Base Creation Project Phases 1 and 2 (5.7 billion KRW), Phase 2 of the Basic Living Base Creation Project for Bongsu-myeon, Yugok-myeon, Jijeong-myeon, and Nakseo-myeon (5.3 billion KRW), and the Nakseo-myeon Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project (1.5 billion KRW). Including the 25 billion KRW Burim-myeon Rural Spatial Maintenance Project selected in 2022, the total project scale reaches 57.4 billion KRW.
Since 2022, the county has selected projects through a resident-led, bottom-up approach with multidisciplinary experts and township promotion committees, established a rural spatial strategy plan and Burim living area revitalization plan, and was finally selected for the Rural Agreement public project in June last year.
County Governor Oh Tae-wan said, “The selection for this Rural Agreement is the largest achievement in rural development in the county’s history and is expected to bring a new turning point for regional development,” adding, “We will create rural spaces that invigorate rural areas, attracting people to visit, work, and live.”
