On the 25th, Judge Kim Ji-yeon of the Criminal Division 6 at Gwangju District Court sentenced A (57), a level 6 investigator at the Mokpo Branch of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office, who was charged with violating the Attorney-at-Law Act and other offenses, to one year in prison and ordered a fine of 13,437,500 KRW.

A was indicted for receiving money and entertainment worth about 13 million KRW in exchange for informing Seong (62, detained and indicted), an incident broker, about the issuance of a search warrant for Tak (45, detained and indicted), a virtual asset investment fraudster who acted as a channel for Seong's lobbying funds, or for assisting in the preparation of statements from 2020 to 2021.

Regarding this, A admitted to receiving meals and golf entertainment but denied receiving cash or leaking investigation secrets.

The court stated, "Considering testimonies from related parties that A received about 13 million KRW in three instances in addition to meals, it is acknowledged," and added, "As a prosecution investigator, A committed a crime that undermines the trust in the criminal justice system by providing information about ongoing investigations, which is a serious offense. Given the amount of money received, a prison sentence is inevitable."

Meanwhile, the prosecution has indicted 18 current and former officials from the prosecution and police, including brokers involved in requests for favors related to the incident broker, and is conducting follow-up investigations.
