LG Electronics has announced a new wave in the automotive electronics market by unveiling next-generation AI-based technology for vehicles.
On the morning of the 25th, LG Electronics revealed its advanced concept of the AI-based ‘In-Cabin Sensing Solution’ at the World Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exhibition (EVS37) held at COEX in Seoul.
The In-Cabin Sensing Solution is a system that detects, analyzes, and responds to the driver and the vehicle interior using camera sensors. While current products are limited to detecting driver inattentiveness such as drowsy driving, LG Electronics’ newly unveiled In-Cabin Sensing Solution has been significantly upgraded. It recognizes the driver’s face to set the vehicle environment (seat, climate control, lighting) and monitors the driver’s heart rate during driving to detect health conditions and take appropriate actions. Through voice control and gaze-tracking technology, the driver can control desired functions with hand gestures without touching the vehicle display. When the driver finishes driving and exits, the system detects the vehicle interior environment and sends a message if items such as a wallet or smartphone are left behind.
LG Electronics’ In-Cabin Sensing Solution is broadly divided into three systems: Driver Monitoring System (DMS), Interior Monitoring System (IMS), and Driver and Interior Monitoring Integrated System (DIMS). In particular, DIMS requires technological capabilities to sense both areas.
An LG Electronics official stated, "We will continue to lead the market by introducing In-Cabin Sensing technologies that provide various customer conveniences."
