NST, 2024 Customized Workforce Training Project for Research Institutes Operation

The National Science and Technology Council (Chairman Kim Bok-cheol, NST) announced on the 22nd that it will operate the '2024 Customized Human Resource Development Project for Government-Funded Research Institutes' to support the growth of early-career researchers in the field of science and technology.

This project provides holders of doctoral degrees in science and engineering with R&D training opportunities utilizing the excellent research infrastructure of government-funded research institutes in the science and technology sector (hereinafter referred to as government-funded research institutes), supporting their growth as independent early-career researchers.

This year's project budget is a total of 9.06 billion KRW, and it plans to support approximately 140 postdoctoral researchers. Eligible candidates are postdoctoral researchers who have obtained (or are expected to obtain) a doctoral degree in science and engineering within the last five years. Upon selection, the affiliated government-funded research institute will provide an annual salary of about 60 million KRW (support period up to 3 years).

Chairman Kim Bok-cheol stated, “We will do our best to ensure that postdoctoral researchers, who are the most important core talents leading the future of science and technology in our country, can secure global-level research competitiveness in a stable environment.”
