From the 21st to the 23rd, the "2024 Korean Quantum Information Society Annual Conference" will be held at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX) for three days.

This annual conference, hosted by the Korean Quantum Information Society (President Kim Jaewan), is the first event where domestic academia and quantum information technology experts come together to discuss various topics related to quantum information technology.

The event is designed as a platform for researchers from companies, universities, and research institutes interested in quantum information technology, as well as undergraduate and graduate students, to share trends and exchange information on quantum information technology.

The conference covers a wide range of topics fundamental to quantum information technology, including recently spotlighted areas such as quantum computers, quantum communication, and quantum sensors, as well as quantum information theory, quantum materials/devices, and more.

About 300 participants, including domestic quantum information technology experts, local industry-academia-research professionals, stakeholders, and students, are expected to attend.

This conference was attracted to Busan from the Seoul metropolitan area, where quantum information technology events are mainly held, to foster a quantum information technology ecosystem in the city and promote related industries.

The event will begin with tutorial presentations on the 21st, followed by keynote speeches, an opening ceremony (April 22 at 11 a.m.), a general meeting, invited lectures, oral presentations, poster sessions, and exhibition booths over the two days of the 22nd and 23rd.

The keynote speeches will be delivered by Professor Kim Myungsik of Imperial College London, a Korean researcher achieving outstanding research results abroad, and Professor Kim Kihwan of Tsinghua University in China. Various speakers will present on topics related to quantum information technology.

Exhibition booths at the venue will feature 16 organizations and companies, including Busan-based quantum information technology company "PalmCAD," "SDT," which has a technology transfer agreement with Pusan National University, the Quantum Information Research Support Center, and quantum graduate schools from Korea University and KAIST.

Undergraduate students can enter free of charge by showing their student ID or enrollment certificate upon on-site registration.

Shin Changho, Director of the Digital Economy Innovation Office of the city, said, "The hosting of this conference is significant as it provides a place for domestic quantum information technology experts to gather in Busan. It is expected to be a great opportunity especially for local companies and universities interested in quantum information technology." He added, "Our city will continue to create more opportunities for networking with quantum information technology experts in Busan."
