'Walking Together...' Gwanak-gu Holds 44th Disability Day Commemoration Event

April 19 Disability Day Commemoration Event Held with Over 600 Residents Including People with Disabilities and Their Families
Conducted Under the Slogan "A Path Together, A Path Toward Equality"
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) held the '44th Gwanak-gu Disabled Persons Day' commemorative event on April 19 at the Nakseongdae Park Gateball Dome, organized by the Gwanak-gu Disabled Persons Association.
'Disabled Persons Day' is a statutory commemorative day established to raise awareness about people with disabilities and to encourage their rehabilitation motivation, observed annually on April 20.
This event was held under the theme "The Path Together, The Path Toward Equality," with about 600 residents including people with disabilities and their families in attendance.
The event program included ▲ an award ceremony recognizing contributors to local community welfare for people with disabilities ▲ congratulatory speeches by guests ▲ a special performance by an invited singer ▲ impromptu singing and talent shows.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "Celebrating the 44th Disabled Persons Day, we held this event to support and give courage and hope to the approximately 20,000 disabled residents of Gwanak-gu," adding, "We will continue to actively prepare policies for a better life for people with disabilities and their families and strive even harder to make Gwanak a more inclusive city where everyone can live happily together."
