Dongmyeong Industry Co., Ltd. CEO Sung Gijin Donates 10 Million KRW Development Fund to Dong-A University

Five Students Awarded the 'College of Engineering Challenge Scholarship'

Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 19th that Sung Ki-jin, CEO of Dongmyeong Industry Co., Ltd., donated 10 million KRW to the College of Engineering Development Fund.

The donation ceremony held at the College of Engineering Hall of Fame on Seunghak Campus was attended by CEO Sung Ki-jin, Dean Jang Sang-mok of the College of Engineering, Associate Dean Choi Young-ik of Industry-Academia Cooperation, and faculty members of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

At the donation ceremony, CEO Sung said, “Donating is a cooler thing than receiving something. I applaud Dean Jang’s hard work and will encourage more people to donate,” adding, “I am proud of the juniors who are taking on challenges. I hope they become better than their seniors.”

Dean Jang said, “CEO Sung has greatly contributed to the development of the machinery industry through continuous technological development, serving as a role model for juniors and enhancing the university’s honor as the president of the Dong-A University Mountaineering Club,” and added, “I hope the Challenge Scholarship for the College of Engineering, established with CEO Sung’s donation, will inspire students’ spirit of challenge and enterprising mindset.”

Earlier, the College of Engineering at Dong-A University established the ‘College of Engineering Challenge Scholarship’ in honor of CEO Sung’s intentions and awarded 2 million KRW each to students Jo Hyun-se, Lee Ho-seon (Mechanical Engineering, 4th year), Lee Su-ji, Yeo Jeong-yoon (Urban Planning Engineering, 4th year), and Yang Hee-jun (Mechanical Engineering, 4th year), the president of the College of Engineering Student Council.

CEO Sung serves as the president of the Graduate School of Business AMP (Advanced Management Program) Alumni Association and previously donated 10 million KRW as the 34th donor in the 2021 Business School Development Fund relay.

Graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Dong-A University, CEO Sung leads the Dong-A University Mountaineering Club as its president. Under his leadership, the alumni of the Dong-A University Mountaineering Club recently completed climbing the highest peaks of the seven continents, finishing with Vinson Massif (4,892m) in Antarctica.
