The March 15 Uprising, in which Masan citizens and students protested against the fraudulent March 15 election in 1960, is a bloody democratic uprising that became the direct catalyst for the April 19 Revolution, which marks its 64th anniversary today.
Mayor Hong stated, “The courage and sacrifice of the citizens who devoted themselves to freedom and justice became the foundation of our country's democratization. Changwon Special City will strive even more to enhance its status as a sacred place of democracy.”
Meanwhile, Changwon Special City is constructing the Hall of Democracy of Changwon City within the 3·15 Haeyang Nuri Park in Masanhappo-gu to inherit the spirit of democracy, with completion scheduled for the end of this year.
