A Man in His 40s Arrested Four Days After Kidnapping and Robbery of a Woman in Gangnam

The police have arrested a man in his 40s who kidnapped a woman in her 20s and extorted around 20 million won from her.

On the 19th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that Mr. A was arrested and is being investigated on charges of special robbery and injury. Mr. A is accused of forcibly putting the victim into a car on a street in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around 6 p.m. on the 14th, and threatening her with a weapon to force her to transfer 21 million won.


The victim escaped by getting out of the car briefly when Mr. A stepped out and entered a nearby store to report to the police. Meanwhile, Mr. A fled and took the KTX to Busan. The police caught Mr. A at his parents' house in Daejeon at around 8:20 p.m. the day before, four days after his escape.


Mr. A is known to have been a manager who helped the victim's internet broadcasting online, but it is reported that they were not personally acquainted. The police are considering applying for an arrest warrant against Mr. A.
