Container Fire in Samhyang, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do... Man in His 60s Dies

A fire broke out in a container in Samhyang-eup, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, resulting in the death of a man in his 60s due to smoke inhalation.


According to Muan-gun authorities, a report of a fire at a container in Yongpo-ri, Samhyang-eup, was received at 8:04 a.m. on the 19th.


Five fire trucks and 15 firefighters were dispatched and extinguished the fire around 9 a.m. However, Mr. A (65) was found dead inside the container.

Investigations revealed that Mr. A entered the fire scene after receiving a call from a neighbor informing him that his own container was on fire. He was unable to escape in time and died from smoke inhalation.


According to witnesses, it is presumed that Mr. A entered the fire scene to rescue his pet dog.


The police and fire authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and the exact circumstances of the accident.
