On the 16th, the ‘Hanbang Industry Win-Win Development Council’ inaugural general meeting was held at Dongdaemun-gu Office in Seoul (Mayor Ip-hyung Lee).
The establishment of the council was realized when Mayor Ip-hyung Lee of Dongdaemun-gu proposed “revitalizing the declining Hanbang industry through cooperation among Hanbang-specialized local governments dispersed nationwide,” and Mayors Chang-gyu Kim of Jecheon, Seung-hwa Lee of Sancheong, Kyu-ha Ryu of Daegu Jung-gu, and Ki-moon Choi of Yeongcheon responded positively.
On that day, the heads of the five local governments gathered at Dongdaemun-gu Office agreed to mutually cooperate on ▲strengthening support systems ▲creating new growth engines ▲investigating common issues to enhance the competitiveness of the declining Hanbang industry.
The council, as a nationwide administrative council for the Hanbang industry, is expected to play a pivotal role in the revival of the Hanbang industry through ▲active exchange and cooperation during Hanbang festivals by each local government ▲policy proposals to the central government for the development of the Hanbang industry ▲hosting academic seminars and forums.
Ip-hyung Lee, the first elected chairman of the council and Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We will jointly prepare more practical and concrete development plans to revitalize the Hanbang industry, such as the ‘Herbal Medicine Origin Certification System’ utilizing AI technology.”
