MediOpenLab is an innovation platform operated by SparkLabs' bio startup specialized accelerator, 'SparkBioLab.' It operates based on ▲research and development (R&D) infrastructure ▲commercialization support programs ▲follow-up investment attraction support ▲proof of concept (PoC) with the Korea Health Management Association.

The shared laboratory, established within the headquarters of the Korea Health Management Association in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, spans approximately 300 pyeong (about 991 square meters) and is equipped with cutting-edge research facilities worth about 2 billion KRW, including Thermo Fisher Scientific's ultra-low temperature freezer and Leica's confocal microscope. Portfolio companies of SparkLabs such as Jincast, InnoGenics, and GenoPlan have confirmed their residency in the shared laboratory. MediOpenLab is currently recruiting eight resident companies across all fields related to bio and health.

SparkLabs plans to provide intensive support for follow-up investment attraction through a specialized accelerator program for the commercialization of bio startups possessing innovative technologies. Outstanding companies among the residents will be offered opportunities to participate in open innovation and establish strategic partnerships with the Health Management Association for MediCheck, demonstration research, and product development.

Kim Ho-min, co-CEO of SparkLabs, said, "SparkLabs has accumulated experience and understanding by discovering and supporting early-stage companies that stand out in the bio field, such as Jincast, GenoPlan, and CurioChips," adding, "We will ensure that MediOpenLab becomes the optimal soil for nurturing unicorns in the bio sector."
