Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) is opening the burial site of Hyo Gwan Gong Lee Jeong-yeong, a cultural asset in the city, and connecting it to the Ggachisan hiking trail to develop it into a landmark where history, culture, and nature coexist.

The district announced that on the 15th, it completed the Lee Jeong-yeong burial site trail (around 44-7, Sandang-dong) to expand residents' opportunities to enjoy cultural assets and provide a resting space, and after a one-week pilot operation, it will officially open on the 22nd.

The Lee Jeong-yeong burial site, a privately owned property, is designated as Seoul Metropolitan City Tangible Cultural Property No. 94, but it had been partially restricted for residents' access due to its disconnection from nearby hiking trails.

Accordingly, the district continuously persuaded the managing clan (Jongjung) and eventually signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for full opening.

Afterward, the district underwent a review by the Seoul City Tangible Cultural Property Committee to change the trail construction plan and began creating and maintaining the historical and cultural trail.

The newly renovated Lee Jeong-yeong burial site trail includes wooden deck walkways and fences, with old boundary fences replaced.

Additionally, by connecting barefoot dirt paths and planting trees and grass, the trail was enhanced to offer more enjoyment and a better walking environment.

Furthermore, an additional entrance to the trail connected to the burial site was installed to improve convenience and accessibility for residents.

In particular, to restore areas where soil was washed away due to heavy rains and prevent flood damage, trees and grass were planted, and for slopes with potential hazards, structural inspections were conducted, followed by the construction of two-tier retaining walls and stone walls to ensure residents' safety.

In the future, specialized tree species such as crape myrtle and hydrangea will be planted along the trail, and the forest overgrown with piled waste wood and weeds will be reorganized to create a ‘flowering hill.’

This area will be reborn as a premium trail offering health and healing to visitors, linked with projects such as the opening of the Hanok cafe Damsodang and the creation of a barefoot clay path.

Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “Opening the space connected to the Ggachisan hiking trail within the Lee Jeong-yeong burial site will create a high-quality historical and cultural trail for residents,” adding, “We will continue to discover resources throughout the district to expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment and transform Dongjak into a premium city.”
