Tam Ky, the capital of Quang Nam Province, is known as a transportation hub adjacent to Da Nang in central Vietnam, Chu Lai Airport, and Chu Lai Industrial Complex, as well as a vibrant economic and trade city. In 2013, the city established a friendly relationship with Quang Nam Province through its connection with the International Lotus Village, a Korean-style social welfare facility in the area.
On this day, the Tam Ky delegation consisted of 11 members, led by Nguyen Huy An, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, along with Pham Hoang Duc, Chairman of the Tam Ky Party Organization Committee, Le Ngoc Uong, Chairman of the Tam Ky People's Committee, and Cho Dang Ho, Chairman of the International Lotus Village.
The city plans to actively promote support for the construction of a local library, taking advantage of the visit by the Tam Ky delegation. Earlier, in accordance with the 'Ordinance on the Promotion of Internationalization and International Exchange Cooperation of Yongin City,' the city requested approval from the Office for Government Policy Coordination through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in February to promote the construction of a library in Tam Ky as part of an Official Development Assistance (ODA) project.
The city plans to allocate a budget for the library construction in next year’s budget once the project is approved by the International Development Cooperation Committee in June and reflected in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ comprehensive plan for international development cooperation projects.
Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin said, "We have decided to support the construction of a library to enhance friendly exchanges between the two cities and are proceeding with the necessary procedures," adding, "We hope that the two cities will engage in even more active exchanges in the future." The mayor also added, "It would be great if Yongin and Tam Ky actively cooperate in the industrial sector and businesspeople make efforts for mutual growth."
Nguyen Huy An, Deputy Secretary of the Tam Ky Party Committee, responded, "If the project to build a library within the International Lotus Village is completed, it will greatly help realize cultural welfare in Tam Ky," and added, "We want to continue active exchanges with Yongin City in the future."
Meanwhile, the Tam Ky International Lotus Village Comprehensive Welfare Town was established locally in 2015 by the International Lotus Village Corporation based in Pyeongtaek City. It includes a vocational training center equipped with lecture and practice rooms, a Korean language school, and a daycare center to foster talent development.
