A startup space for young people has been established in Chang-dong, Dobong-gu.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it has created the 'Dobong-gu Youth Startup Center' on the 4th floor of Seed Cube Chang-dong and began company move-ins starting April 8.
The 'Dobong-gu Youth Startup Center' is a place that discovers and supports young talents with promising startup ideas, covering an area of 637.02㎡.
The district plans to build a startup ecosystem linked to the local community through the center's operation and provide young people with a stable startup space.
The center is designed to activate startup networking among young people and facilitate easy movement within the space. A district official said, "For startups, innovative ideas and free exchange of opinions are essential," adding, "The spatial arrangement was one of the most carefully considered aspects in establishing this center."
The center is equipped with startup spaces including 2- and 4-person rooms, shared offices, and specialized business offices for supporting 3D content startups, as well as a multipurpose studio capable of video production, video conferencing, and product photography.
Additionally, there are classrooms for startup education and special lectures, and meeting rooms for partner company meetings and networking.
The operation of the center will be entrusted to the Kwangwoon University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation. To ensure more professional management, the district selected the Kwangwoon University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, registered as a startup planner, as the entrusted institution.
Going forward, the district and the cooperation foundation will provide customized programs for each growth stage, including education for building business models, dedicated/professional mentoring, startup consultation services, support linked to promotional platforms, investment capacity enhancement, and networking expansion.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "With the establishment of the Youth Startup Center in Chang-dong, we expect a synergistic effect along with the existing Small and Medium Business Startup Incubation Center and Seoul Startup Hub Chang-dong," adding, "We will do our best to support young people so that they can settle in Dobong-gu and engage in economic activities stably."
In addition to establishing this Youth Startup Center, the district plans to implement various policies this year to support youth employment and startups. Starting in May, it will operate a Youth Employment Support Center and continue to focus on discovering and nurturing specialized strategic industries that combine 3D content and the music industry, following last year.
Youth-tailored job support projects such as youth overseas internships, public institution practical internships, and corporate practical internships, which received great responses from local youth, will be expanded by increasing the number of participants and target companies.
Meanwhile, this year the district has allocated a budget of 8.2 billion KRW for 33 projects in participation, jobs, welfare, and culture fields according to four major promotion strategies: ▲expanding youth participation opportunities ▲expanding youth self-reliance support ▲stable youth living ▲supporting cultural creation. This is about a 28% increase compared to the 6.4 billion KRW budget allocated in 2023.
