Bowed Saemirae "Failed to Gain Public Trust... Redesigning the Party's Future"

Lee Nak-yeon, co-chair of Saeroun Mirae, stated on the 12th, "We failed to gain the trust of the people. We will continue our efforts to rebuild democracy."

At the disbandment ceremony of the election committee held at the party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, Lee said, "The challenges ahead for Saeroun Mirae have become very great."

He added, "I believe we must redesign and reconstruct the party and our future by gaining the wisdom of the people and comrades. We must thoroughly reflect on and correct the many trial-and-error mistakes made during the election process."

In the 22nd general election, Saeroun Mirae secured only one seat in the Sejong Gap constituency with the election of Kim Jong-min. The party received 1.7% of the proportional representation vote, failing to secure any proportional seats.

Oh Young-hwan, the overall election committee chairman, also said, "I want to emphasize that the election results falling short of expectations were not because your choices and challenges were wrong. In the midst of anger and confrontational hostility, our sincere call for the restoration and importance of democracy was not meaningless and was a role that someone had to play."

Kim Jong-min, the standing election committee chairman, said, "We must take a cold, reflective look at why we started this challenge, what meaning it held, what was lacking despite it all, and why we failed to gain the people's choice. Through this process, we will present a report on Saeroun Mirae's new challenge to the people."
