In his inaugural address, Mayor An emphasized proactive and prompt administration by public officials, ordering four key points: △an attitude of serving and prioritizing citizens △a clean public service culture △efforts for sustainable development △expertise in work.

He also stressed open administration by actively reflecting various ideas from citizens in city governance rather than city-led project promotion, and by implementing various policies supporting businesses.

Regarding the direction of city administration and pledges, he set as a basic principle a solid and specialized development strategy that leverages Miryang’s strengths rather than focusing on external growth. In particular, prioritizing childcare and education policies, he announced ambitions to revitalize the local economy by increasing the budget significantly for care and education, actively considering socially vulnerable groups, expanding support in the agricultural sector, revitalizing the tourism industry, favoring local cultural artists, expanding support for recreational sports and industrializing sports, and actively supporting return-to-farming and return-to-village initiatives to increase the resident and living population.

He also emphasized prior coordination with the city council on important projects, active communication with provincial and city council members, and urged all public officials to establish accident prevention measures to protect citizens’ lives and property.

Mayor An stated, “Through active communication with citizens, let us envision the future direction of our city together, and I ask all public officials to work hard so that Miryang can take off again.”

After the inauguration ceremony, Mayor An had lunch with reporters covering the city and said, “I will do my best to make Miryang a city with strong substance and continuous growth,” and requested the media’s active role by saying, “Please criticize if the administration goes in the wrong direction and praise if it does well.”

Subsequently, he visited the Miryang branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association and Miryang Hyanggyo to greet local elders on his inauguration.

Meeting with Shin Jun-cheol, head of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Miryang branch, Mayor An promised the prompt construction of the Miryang Senior Welfare Center and the implementation of various policies to promote senior welfare. At Miryang Hyanggyo, he conversed with local Confucian scholars including Kim Dae-guk, Jeongyo, and Park Dae-byeong, president of the Sungkyunkwan Confucianism Association, expressing his commitment to develop the region’s unique culture and create a happy city where citizens can enjoy and appreciate beautiful culture.
