On the 12th, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that Mr. A was arrested and sent to prosecution on charges of rape and murder, as well as violation of the Narcotics Control Act.

According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of staying with the female victim at a motel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, from the 29th of last month to the 3rd of this month, mixing sleeping pills into her drink, and then raping and killing her. The motel owner discovered the victim dead alone in the room and reported it to the police.

Police investigation revealed that Mr. A gave the woman drinks mixed with sleeping pills and tranquilizers with the intent to rape her, repeating this behavior each time the woman woke up.

Mr. A was urgently arrested on the 4th at his family home in Chungju, Chungbuk, on suspicion of murder. After Mr. A confessed to giving the sleeping pills to the woman with the intent to rape, the police changed the charge to rape and murder.

The police believe that immediately after the crime, Mr. A deliberately complicated his escape route and discarded items such as his mobile phone that could reveal his identity to confuse the investigation.

During police questioning, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I mixed sleeping pills into the drink," but also claimed, "I had no intention to kill."
