Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 12th that it will officially begin facility maintenance work to legitimize the much-debated Daesan Park Golf Course.
This project is the first phase, involving the installation of safety fences (980m), benches (50 units), and a mobile office at the 72-hole grass course (88,411㎡), with completion planned for April.
The second phase will be carried out in the second half of the year after securing supplementary budget, including grass reseeding and convenience facility installation on the non-grass course (44,957㎡), as well as the creation of an education center. This will complete the legitimation of Daesan Park Golf Course with a total of 90 holes this year.
The mobile office on site will have the Normalization TF Team stationed full-time. The TF Team will oversee overall construction management, establish operational systems, and work together with the Changwon Park Golf Association through communication to seek reasonable solutions for the normalization of the park golf course.
Changwon City will also continue to consult with the city council to enact the Park Golf Course Management and Operation Ordinance, which is currently on hold at the council.
Kang Chang-yeol, Director of the Sports Promotion Division, said, “I ask all construction personnel to ensure that not a single safety accident occurs during the Daesan Park Golf Course facility maintenance work,” and added, “We will do our best to reopen Daesan Park Golf Course so that all citizens can use it without discrimination.”
