The briefing will be attended by 13 local governments including Busan, Mokpo, and Gangneung, as well as 9 theme and specialized companies such as the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation and Legoland Korea Resort. It will explain travel product content, infrastructure, and incentive systems to over 150 inbound travel agencies, and conduct in-depth consultations.
In Part 1, the theme and specialized briefing, four organizations including the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation and Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will present inbound travel products developed by linking themes and industries such as sports, security, and healing/medical tourism convergence zones.
The Taekwondo Promotion Foundation will promote products linking sports and tourism such as ‘Taekwondo Stay’, ‘Workation in Taekwondowon’, and ‘Healing in Taekwondowon’. The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will introduce peace and security tourism products such as the Camp Greaves DMZ experience, where the actual US military camp Camp Greaves in the Demilitarized Zone was converted into a historical park, and ‘DMZ Stay’ in the Gyeonggi-do DMZ area.
In Part 2, the regional tourism briefing, travel products utilizing tourism resources from seven regions including Haenam, Busan, Mokpo, Iksan, and Dangjin will be introduced to diversify tourism from the existing Seoul and metropolitan area focus to regions. The Haenam Culture and Tourism Foundation will showcase convergence tourism content such as senior trekking, ecological exploration, and healing tourism by linking regions like Gangjin, Haenam, and Yeongam.
Park Jong-taek, Director of Tourism Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "With Japan’s Golden Week, China’s Labor Day holidays, and the summer vacation season, the increase in foreign tourists is expected to accelerate," adding, "We will strengthen the cooperation system among local governments, companies, and the travel industry for future product development and tourist recruitment, and establish a comprehensive support system for attracting inbound tourism to achieve 'tourism of all content.'"
