Hong Jun-pyo: "Handonghun, who is totally incompetent, ruins everything just by taking selfies"

As the People Power Party suffered a crushing defeat in the 22nd general election, Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo has been continuously making strong remarks toward the ruling party.

On the 12th, Mayor Hong posted on his Facebook, "After overcoming countless hardships and crossing the river of impeachment to survive, this party was ruined by Hwang Kyo-ahn, who was completely incompetent, coming in and playing at being the leader," and criticized, "Then Han Dong-hoon, who is even less competent, came in, played at running for president, mistook himself for a political idol, and ruined everything while just taking selfies."

He continued, "The party has survived by cowardly entrusting itself to celebrities outside the party instead of nurturing or finding talent within," and scolded, "Even Lee Jun-seok, whom we ambitiously nurtured, was chased out by being falsely accused of sexual bribery, turning the party into a sunflower party that only looks toward Yongsan."

Furthermore, Mayor Hong said, "Does a party that relies solely on support from the elderly over 70 have a future?" and added, "Those young people who came in shouting for youth politics?have they really fulfilled that role? Watching this general election, I feel truly sorry that the party I have spent over 30 years with is becoming a bird that cannot fly and is falling further."

Meanwhile, the day before, Mayor Hong also criticized the party leadership, including former People Power Party Emergency Committee Chairman Han Dong-hoon, saying, "This election was flawed from the start."

On the 11th, he visited the Daegu City Hall press room and said, "This election determines the fate of the regime, but the rookie party leader and Jang Dong-hyuk, who was in charge of the election and came in through a by-election, and the person called the nomination committee chairman did not understand politics," adding, "I thought it was doomed from the start to entrust such important elections to those people."

Regarding former Emergency Committee Chairman Han, he said, "During the general election campaign, what memorable things did the ruling party's campaign have? It was only him taking selfies in front of mobilized party members."
