Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) will implement a free LED lighting replacement project for vulnerable households until October.

Replacing fluorescent lights at home with high-efficiency LED lighting can reduce annual electricity consumption by about 40%, thereby easing the electricity bill burden for vulnerable households.

Additionally, the product lifespan increases more than fivefold, and the uniform lighting reduces eye fatigue, providing a sense of stability.

Residents enrolled in the Eco Mileage program, which offers incentives based on energy usage, can enjoy even greater benefits in connection with this project.

In the long term, there is also an effect of reducing greenhouse gas emissions through decreased energy consumption.

The district has consistently received positive responses from residents by replacing 1,518 lights with LED lighting for vulnerable groups over the past three years.

This year, the plan is to replace 370 lights in 150 households of basic livelihood security recipients or near-poverty groups with high-efficiency LED lighting.

In particular, this year the district expects greater effects by using energy consumption efficiency Grade 1 products that have obtained the ‘High-Efficiency Energy Equipment Certification’ for LED lighting.

Currently, applicants for LED lighting replacement in 2025 are being recruited, and vulnerable households wishing to replace lighting can apply at their local community service center.

District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I hope residents take great interest in reducing energy consumption through LED lighting replacement and participate in reducing greenhouse gases in daily life to respond to the climate crisis,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to promote various energy welfare projects for energy-vulnerable groups to alleviate the economic burden on vulnerable households.”
