Ulleung-gun to Conduct 'Public Hygiene Service Evaluation' This Year

Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will conduct a public hygiene service evaluation for about a month starting from April 15, targeting 122 establishments (lodging, bathhouses, and laundries) to assess the level of hygiene management and promote qualitative improvement in services.

The public hygiene service evaluation is conducted biennially by industry category according to the Public Hygiene Management Act. Beauty and hair salons are evaluated in odd-numbered years, while lodging, bathhouses, and laundries are evaluated in even-numbered years. This year, the evaluation targets lodging, bathhouses, and laundries.

The main evaluation items include ▲ Compliance (items that establishments must strictly follow according to the Public Hygiene Management Act) and ▲ Recommendations (items that establishments should aim for to improve public hygiene services, including facility environment, customer safety, and service quality), with different items depending on the industry.

Based on the evaluation scores, establishments scoring 90 or above are classified as Excellent (Green grade), those scoring 80 or above but below 90 as Good (Yellow grade), and those scoring below 80 as General Management Target Establishments (White grade). After the survey is completed, the evaluation results will be announced on the Ulleung-gun Office website.

Additionally, as a reward for excellent establishments, those receiving the Excellent (Green grade) will be given an excellence signboard and hygiene supplies.

Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, stated, “We expect this evaluation to contribute to the voluntary improvement of hygiene service levels at hygiene establishments, and we will continue to strive for public hygiene management.”
