Hwaseong City, Expansion of Namyang Water Quality Restoration Center

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 11th that it will expand the sewage treatment facilities at the Namyang Water Quality Restoration Center located in Namyang-eup, where sewage generation is increasing due to continuous population inflow.

To this end, the city will increase the daily treatment capacity of the sewage treatment facilities within the center from the existing 23,000㎥ to 30,000㎥, an increase of 7,000㎥. Earlier, the city established the Sewerage Maintenance Master Plan in May 2019, changed the project plan in January this year, and started construction last month. The city aims to complete the project by August 2026.

In particular, to prevent odors and enhance residents' convenience, all sewage treatment facilities will be constructed underground, and above ground, facilities such as soccer fields and basketball courts will be created for residents' convenience.

Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "Through the expansion of the Water Quality Restoration Center, we will establish stable infrastructure that can alleviate environmental burdens caused by population growth and development projects, and take the lead in preserving the water quality of public water bodies and protecting the environment."
