Kim Yong-man, the great-grandson of Baekbeom Kim Gu, and a director of the Republic of Korea Provisional Government Commemoration Association, is entering the National Assembly.

Kim, who ran as the Democratic Party candidate in the 22nd general election for Gyeonggi Hanam-eul, expressed his gratitude on the 11th, saying, "I am truly thankful for the great opportunity to work for Hanam and the Republic of Korea. I will repay the citizens of Hanam with politics that ease their hardships."


On the same day, Kim posted on his Facebook, "Although the Democratic Party achieved a great victory in the last general election, there was also much criticism asking, 'What have you done in the past four years?'" He added, "Nevertheless, considering the meaning of the public's renewed support, it was a stern command from the people to restore livelihoods and democracy and to devote ourselves to reform."


He continued, "I will find answers on the ground and become a National Assembly member closer to the people and citizens," and said, "I will listen with a humble attitude and be a politician who voices opinions sincerely on necessary and required matters."


In this general election for Gyeonggi Hanam-eul, Kim won with 51.65% of the vote, defeating Lee Chang-geun of the People Power Party, who received 43.70%, and Chu Min-gyu of the New Future Party, who garnered 4.63%.


Kim, a graduate of the Department of Political Science at George Washington University in the United States, returned to Korea in 2010 and completed his military service as an Air Force officer. His grandfather is former Air Force Chief of Staff Kim Shin, and his father is former head of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Kim Yang.
