On the 11th, Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam Province, commented on the results of the 22nd general election, stating, "I will humbly accept the judgment of the people and work hard starting with myself."
Through SNS on the same day, Governor Kim said, "The people did not wield a switch to punish the ruling party but raised an iron club," adding, "All members of the People Power Party, including the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, need reflection and introspection."
He continued, "The loss of national momentum in a minority government structure is a great loss to the country and its people, but the government must continue without wavering at any moment," emphasizing, "The party and government must show a transformation equivalent to reestablishment by reorganizing the cabinet and the presidential office."
He said, "While accepting the harsh judgment of the people, I do not want to accept a world ruled by criminals and rampant irresponsible populism," adding, "Since it is also our duty to prevent such foreseeable situations, let us not be too discouraged."
Governor Kim stated, "It does not end when defeated but ends when giving up," and said, "If we renew our determination, focus solely on the people, and work for them, public sentiment will return, and I, Kim Tae-heum, will work hard starting with myself."
In the 22nd National Assembly election held the previous day, the Democratic Party secured a majority with 175 seats, while the People Power Party managed to hold onto the impeachment and constitutional amendment blockade line with 108 seats. In Chungnam, the Democratic Party won 8 out of 11 constituencies in a landslide, while the People Power Party secured only 3 seats.
