On the 10th (local time), AFP reported that Anouk Garnier (34) climbed the rope hanging from the Eiffel Tower by hand in front of dozens of spectators and reached the second floor of the Eiffel Tower in 18 minutes, faster than the initially expected 20 minutes. The height climbed was 100 meters, breaking the previous men's rope climbing record of 90 meters set by Thomas van Tonder of South Africa and the women's record of 26 meters set by Ida Mathilde Stensgard of Denmark, setting a new world record.

Garnier set a goal to challenge the world record in rope climbing after becoming a two-time world champion in her age group in obstacle course racing in 2022, and chose the Eiffel Tower, a symbol of France, as the stage. Garnier said, "My dream came true. It was magical," and added, "One thing I never doubted was that I would succeed."

Garnier also revealed that she had the purpose of raising funds for an organization that supports cancer prevention and patient aid for her mother, who is battling cancer. She said, "I trained for a year for this challenge," and added, "My mother has cancer, so it was important to push my limits for a good cause that helps cancer research." Garnier plans to carry the Paris Olympic torch in Marseille, France, on the 9th of next month and will also serve as an ambassador for the volunteer program of the Paris Olympics this summer.

Garnier expressed her wish, saying, "I am 34 years old, but my body feels like 20," and "My physical condition is very good, and I want to stay like this for another 10 years."
