A police officer on patrol discovered a person with severe disabilities wandering the streets of Seoul after running away from a care facility for the disabled in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, and safely returned him to the facility.
The Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul announced on the 11th that two officers, including Police Officer Kim Eun-mi from Namgajwa Police Substation, found a man identified as Mr. A wandering during patrol and escorted him back to the care facility.
Officer Kim and her colleague confirmed that Mr. A was a person with severe disabilities who had run away from the care facility and come to Seoul. They protected him at the substation while considering how to safely return him to his guardian.
Subsequently, the police accompanied Mr. A to Seoul Station, purchased a KTX ticket for him at their own expense, and sent him on the train. Throughout the process, they maintained continuous contact with the care facility staff to ensure Mr. A’s safety.
Officer Kim stated, "Creating a safe environment for socially vulnerable individuals is the police’s natural responsibility."
