Hong Joon-pyo: "Historic Defeat... Quickly Organize Those Responsible"

Hong Joon-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, described the results of the 22nd general election, which ended in a crushing defeat for the People Power Party, as an opportunity to "start again on the ruins."

On the 11th, Mayor Hong posted on his social media (SNS), "April is the cruelest month, lilac flowers bloom on the dead earth," and stated, "We humbly accept this historic defeat, and those responsible in the party and government should be promptly organized."

He said, "Tomorrow, the sun will rise again," adding, "DJ (Kim Dae-jung) once achieved a regime change with 79 seats."

He continued, "Fortunately, many senior members who will lead the party have been elected, which is a relief," and added, "Let's not scatter but unite our strength and rise again."
