Busan Office of Education to Operate 2nd Term of Parent Happiness School

Guidance on Child Reading Methods Linked to Reading Policies

Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yoon-soo) is launching the operation of the "Parent Happiness School 2nd Term" to help parents establish a proper perspective on child education and understand Busan's education policies.


This 2nd term will be conducted as segmented reading education targeting parents of elementary, middle, and high school students. Current and former teachers will serve as instructors, focusing on guiding children's reading in connection with the Office of Education's reading policies and enhancing parents' individual reading capabilities.


Park Sun-mi, president of the Busan Children's Literature Association, will lecture on "Everything About Elementary Reading That Opens My Child's Future" for parents of elementary school students, and Kang Jung-mi, a teacher at Hadan Middle School, will lecture on "Reading Books and Developing Literacy Skills with Middle School Children" for parents of middle school students.


For parents of high school students, Seo Hyung-oh, a teacher at Seongmo Girls' High School, will provide a lecture on "Reading Books Beyond Boundaries for High School Children."


The Happiness School will be conducted online (via ZOOM), with the middle school parent education held on the 24th at 10 a.m., and the elementary and high school parent education sessions held on the 30th at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.


Those wishing to participate can apply on a first-come, first-served basis through the "Parent Support Portal" starting from 10 a.m. on the 15th.


Ha Yoon-soo, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "I hope this training will be very helpful in finding reading guidance methods suitable for children and in forming parents' reading habits."
