The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported on the front page of its April 11 edition from Seoul that "the Yoon Seok-yeol administration is in a tight spot." The newspaper noted, "This election serves as a midterm evaluation of President Yoon," adding, "If the opposition party secures a majority, the Yoon administration will remain a minority party in the legislature from the start to the end of its five-year term, making it impossible to push forward legislation and bold budgetary policies that require parliamentary approval."

In an additional online report on the vote count that morning, it stated, "Many voters agreed with the opposition's appeal for a judgment on the administration," diagnosing that "a decline in President Yoon's centripetal force is inevitable, and there is a high possibility that the momentum to improve Korea-Japan relations will be put on hold."

The Mainichi Shimbun also said the election results "will deal a blow to the Yoon administration," reporting that the People Power Party "(aimed to) capture a majority but fell short." TV Asahi analyzed, "As the vote count progresses, the ruling party's crushing defeat is becoming certain," adding, "President Yoon's lame-duck status is unavoidable, and the progress made in improving Korea-Japan relations since his inauguration will be overshadowed." Kyodo News reported, "The Yoon government proposed solutions to the forced labor issue (victims of Japanese forced labor during World War II), significantly improving the frozen Korea-Japan relations," but also noted, "The conservative ruling party, People Power, is expected to suffer a crushing defeat."

The far-right Sankei Shimbun focused on the election's role in resolving the existing 'twist state' of a minority ruling party and majority opposition (yeoso-yadae), stating, "The focus was on whether the election would lead to stabilization of the Yoon administration's governance," and predicted, "Due to the ruling party's crushing defeat, the possibility of President Yoon entering a lame-duck phase early has increased." The Yomiuri Shimbun reported that "the opposition appealed for a judgment on the administration ahead of the general election," relaying the coverage from Korean media.
