Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) is promoting the "Happy Family Celebration Taegeukgi Gift" project, which presents home-use Taegeukgi flag sets to households that have registered their marriage within the district.
This project is being implemented to celebrate the happy start of couples who register their marriage and to encourage participation in the national pride Taegeukgi flag-raising campaign. The recipients are households where at least one spouse has an address in Seongdong-gu and registers their marriage at the Seongdong-gu Office.
The gift set includes a home-use Taegeukgi flag, a flag, a flagpole, a storage box containing a congratulatory message for the marriage, and a flag holder considering residents of general houses without installed flagpoles.
A Seongdong-gu official stated, "Marriage registrations, which had slowed due to COVID-19, are increasing again, with 1,425 marriage registrations processed last year, and various marriage relationships, including international marriages, are being established."
In addition to presenting the Taegeukgi sets, the district operates a photo zone where couples can take commemorative photos of their marriage registration. If one spouse resides in Seongdong-gu and wishes to register their move-in, they can submit the move-in registration form simultaneously with the marriage registration, and the local community center will process it immediately, enhancing convenience for residents.
Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "I hope that the precious bond formed through marriage will harmonize and unite like the meaning embodied in the Taegeukgi, and that you will build a happy family."
