Heo Seong-mu, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate for the Changwon Seongsan district in Gyeongnam, won the election after a close race.
According to the National Election Commission, in the 22nd general election held on the 10th, Heo competed in a tight race against Kang Ki-yoon of the People Power Party until the early hours of the next day, finally securing victory by a margin of 979 votes around 2 a.m. on the 11th.
As of 2:33 a.m. on the 11th, with a counting rate of 99.98%, Heo received 46.38% of the votes, Kang 45.70%, and Yeo Young-guk of the Green Justice Party 7.90%.
